Ncomputing L130 and Ncomputing L230

L230 L230 L230

Like all NComputing access terminals, the new L230 and L130 dramatically cut computing costs by sharing the untapped power of standard PCs. Best of all, IT staff and end users do not need special training because our solutions are easy to manage, eco-friendly and compatible with standard PC applications. And like all of our L series, the L230 and L130 can use standard Ethernet infrastructure, so that your users can be located as far away from your shared PCs as you need them to be.

The new L230 and L130 bring enhanced graphics performance (with improved color depth and widescreen support) and a microphone port?all in a stylish new smaller chassis (just 1 inch tall and 4.5 inches square) that takes absolutely no desktop space at all when mounted to the back of a monitor. We even include the mounting bracket at no charge.

Of course, the L230 and L130 include VGA support (resolutions up to 1280×1024 or 1440×900 for widescreen), an Ethernet connection, PS/2 keyboard and mouse ports, audio output, and power cable connections. The L230 also has a USB port for flash memory devices and an audio input for microphones. The L130 does not have the USB port or microphone input and is recommended for the ultimate in economy and security.

With the NComputing solution, each user has an individual workstation that consists of a standard monitor, keyboard, mouse and speakers (not included). However, instead of connecting directly to a PC, these peripherals connect to the L Series access terminal.

The very inexpensive and highly reliable L Series access terminal connects to our terminal services software on the host PC over standard Ethernet cables (plus routers, switches, etc.). Our terminal services software enables the host PC to create unique and simultaneous user sessions so that each user gets their own rich and robust PC experience. A PC that is running a desktop OS (such as Microsoft Windows XP) can support up to ten users. Server operating systems (like Microsoft Windows 2003 Server or Linux) support up to 30 simultaneous users.

L Series Benefits:
* Share one host PC with up to 30 users
* Dramatically reduces acquisition & support costs
* Easy to set up, maintain and secure
* Connects to host PC via Ethernet
* Supports Windows and Linux
* Compact, reliable & energy-efficient (no moving parts)
* Web-quality multimedia support

Our optional NControl and NShield software add more centralized management capabilities?such as remote monitoring and host PC data backup.

By delivering all the key components of this multi-user computing system, NComputing uniquely delivers a high-performance solution at the lowest possible cost. NComputing breaks the affordability and complexity barrier that has limited computing from being deployed everywhere, to everyone.

Kit Content

Each L130 or L230 terminal comes with a power adapter, a CAT 5e cable, mounting bracket and documentation. A CD with the NComputing terminal services software and the associated license is included. Note that the host PC, user peripherals and networking equipment are not included and must be purchased separately.

Using Linux:
If you would like to install NCT-Linux to use with your L120 please follow the directions listed:

In the Linux terminal window, type
“wget http://www.indoasiateknologi.com/nct-linux.zip”
unpack the files into a desired directory
Using the terminal window, type “chmod 777 lntsinst” press enter then on the next line type “./lntsinst” (make sure that you have root priveledges for this last command)
After this you can run the setup and install the SW.

For your reference, our NCT-Linux currently supports
- Suse ( 9.3 version and 10.0, 10.1 )
- Xandros ( 3.02 version )
- Ubuntu ( 5.04 version, 5.10, 6.06, and 7.04) system -> admin -> login screen setup.
Check the options there. I forget which option I checked, but after I allow all stuff and reinstall nct-linux. My L200 can connect to Fedora Core 6.

The L200 Product with Linux, has a particularitity. Is necessary to load the BootServer of the Host NCT-Linux, and its Firmware needs to be the image that is in the Software of version 2.01.048, and thus, to obtain authentication and to initiate the correct connection.

If exists “Host Windows” and “Linux” (with NCT)in the net, make sure that the L200 WILL NOT load the BootServer of this “Windows machine”. If it to load the Boot Server of the Host Windows, the L200 will not connect (Linux Ts Negociation Error).
Perhaps necessary to isolate the Host Linux, to catch the BootServer.

(Geting the BootServer from NCT-Linux, you can to obtain o Firmware from it)

If the L200 Product, have one firmware more current, however, catches the BootServer of the Host Nct-Linux, and don’t get Connection, perhaps necessary to make the DownGrade, and to reduce the version of the Firmware for the image of Software.

(CAUTION, it isn’t recomended).

- USB doesn’t Work on LINUX!!

Debian Linux Remote Device Autologin - Web Kiosk
1) Install IceWM or some other light Window Manager, disable taskbar menu etc
2) Install Opera or Firefox, I really like Opera’s kiosk mode.
3) Add a user that will be used for the AutoLogin stuff “opera”
4) Configure gdm (gdm.conf)

AutomaticLoginEnable=false
AutomaticLogin=

TimedLoginEnable=True
TimedLogin=opera
TimedLoginDelay=5

5) Add
if [ -x /usr/bin/opera ] ; then
/usr/bin/opera -k -nokeys -nosave -nocontextmenu -nosplash -nosysmenu -nochangebuttons -nochangefullscreen -nominmaxbuttons -nohotlist -noprint -nomenu http://www.yourlink.com

Suse Linux 10.1
Fixed the problem just checking the following files:
- kdmrc (Xdmcp and Xaccess tags);
- Xaccess

Ubuntu
need a lib, adept, install all the QT3 libs to make it run

NCT running on UBUNTU 7.04 (Feisty)

Before everything, NCT needs Libqt-mt.
Downloads the library Libqt, and installs it.

The Nct looks to the sources of terminals fonts “100dpi” and “75dpi”,
into the directory” /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/ “, that it is not the directory standard of the sources in the System Ubuntu Feisty.
Correct PATH: “/usr/share/fonts/X11/”
The sources of terminals (100dpi and 75dpi) are the necessary ones, the remaining portion ignore. One is created symbolic links:

# ln -s /usr/share/fonts/X11/75dpi /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi
# ln -s /usr/share/fonts/X11/100dpi /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi

With this procedure, the System already functions, and the Gdm already work.
With gdm and the XDMCP already working, the interpretations of keyboard is managed by XKB. In some Systems, with layout of keyboard and different nationality, the Xkb can present error to change the parameters of keyboard (model and layout).
This happens reason the XDMCP looks the keyboard configurations ([xkb], maps, symbols and keycodes), in the directory “/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb”, that into the System Ubuntu 7,04, it does not point the place some (xkb), presenting the error message:
(Error loading new Keyboard Description)

The correct path of the parameters of the XKB in the Ubuntu System is:
XKB => “/etc/X11/xkb/”
LOCALE => “/usr/share/X11/locale/”

So, symbolic links are created:

# ln -s /etc/X11/xkb /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb
# ln -s /usr/share/X11/locale /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/locale

And the NCT Work (Ubuntu Feisty)…

NCT running on UBUNTU (Feisty)
To gain access to your linux (Ubuntu) machine, you have to enable sharing service.
Goto menu System ->Administration ->Shared Folders.

to gain direct access without using a password.
Edit this part:

;security=user

to

security=share

Next, add Samba user. Make sure the Samba username is already exist in your Ubuntu.
After finished added Samba user, restart Samba services to see the changes.
In terminal, type:

$ sudo smbpasswd -a [your login name]

Now go to you windows client.
Goto start menu and click ‘RUN’
Type in your Ubuntu share IP.
eg: \\192.168.0.34\

You suppose to see the ‘SharingSamba’ folder in the Internet Explorer.

Martial Arts Fitness And Effective Diet Plans

The majority of Martial Artists and athletes take their sports nutrition seriously so they can get all the benefits of the hard training. They also want to make their diet plans as effective and sufficient as possible because the physical demands of the workouts can indeed be quite strenuous and stressful on your body.

If not backed up by proper nutrition, your workouts and training sessions could possibly have an adverse affect on your entire body so it's always in your best interest to implement a proper nutrition plan.

There is no one standard that will clearly identify exactly what an optimum sports nutrition plan is. Although there are several products on the market that are advertised as being the single answer for your nutrition needs, in reality they cannot give you the results you are looking for. In other words there is no "magic pill" or one size fits all.

The reason these products can't live up their hype and can't supply you with everything you need is because each person is different and consideration has to be given to the condition of every individual's body. Only after identifying and realizing what your body's current physical status is, will you be able to know which nutrition product or plan is best for you.

The basics of an effective athletic nutrition plan that best fits your training and fitness level, consists of three fundamental requirements.

First, there has to be an adequate intake of enough fluids, which may or may not contain additional components that are equally beneficial. Second, there must be a proper diet plan to provide your body with the necessary nutrients. Third, certain supplements and vitamins must be combined with the first two to further boost their impact on your body.

An effective diet plan for one person may not work for someone else mainly because every person has different needs, physical characteristics and other unique circumstances. And these need to be carefully considered prior to implementing any type of diet plan.

The nutrients that are usually beneficial for any athlete are carbohydrates and protein. These two play a major role in enabling your body to cope with the extreme stress that comes with Martial Arts workouts while at the same time boosting your immune system. Although there are food supplement suppliers that claim to have a sufficient supply of these nutrients included in their product, the real foods that you eat are usually the best source.

If you should choose to visit a physician to discuss what may be best for your particular diet plan, bear in mind that a significant part of a physician's diagnosis or recommendation depends on what you tell them. Providing them in detail what your training agenda plans are will indeed help a lot in their recommendations.

Simply identifying what the best nutrition plan is not enough to expect results. Like any successful thing you do in life, you must commit yourself to your diet plan. It needs to be in constant partnership with your fitness training and workouts.

An irregular nutrition program will not give you the results you're looking for and may even cause adverse effects since you body may get confused with the intermittent amounts of nutrients being ingested.

In any case proper sports nutrition for a Martial Artist is what every practitioner should aim for at all times. Your body is at stake so really, there's no room for compromises. The best and most effective diet plan should remain your target no matter what.

Tae Kwon Do

Tae Kwon Do fighters on an Olympic arena are a bit unique in that the feet and legs are used almost exclusively with the fists playing minor roles such as blocking and setting-up kick points- almost the opposite of boxing. Matches are breathtaking to watch as experienced fighters let loose with a flurry of kicks at seemingly superhuman speed.

Inclusion in the Olympics and the accompanying exposure has gained this devastating but graceful Korean martial art a huge international following. In fact, it has the most number of practitioners around the world (30 million practitioners with 3 million black belt holders)- making it the most popular martial art in terms of membership. On the other hand, spectators that are non- practitioners and oblivious to the fact that sport Tae Kwon Do athletes are bound by Olympic rules, criticize it for being 'soft' and unbalanced with not enough upper body technique. Truth is, traditional Tae Kwon Do training is far from being incomplete and is one of the most well-rounded hard style martial arts in existence. It would hardly be included in South Korean military training if it was otherwise 'Tae Kwon Do' is a combination of three Korean words: Tae meaning to kick or hit with the feet; Kwon to punch or hit with hands; and Do, just as in Japanese means art, style or 'way'. The meaning of Tae Kwon Do translated in English then is 'The Art of Kicking And Punching.'

Traditional Tae Kwon Do (as opposed to sport Tae Kwon Do) is not as competition-oriented and training focuses on traditional self defense techniques and values of this relatively young martial art. It has been divided into two styles- the World Tae Kwon Do Federation (WTF) and the International Tae Kwon Do Federation (ITF). The sparring rules for Olympic Tae Kwon Do matches came from the latter with its (WTF) headquarters located at Kukkiwon in South Korea. The two forms are different in that the ITF rules allow punches to the head and give bigger points on spectacular airborne kicks. The obligatory headgear and body armor in Olympic Tae Kwon Do matches are absent in ITF tournaments with only protective padding for the feet and fists are required.

Despite these differences in sparring rules, the two Tae Kwon Do divisions are basically the same in principle- taking advantage of the leg's longer reach and relatively greater power. Typical of hard-style martial arts, training for Tae Kwon Do involves rigorous body conditioning and countless hours of practice in blocking, kicking, fist, and hand strikes. Tae Kwon Do fighting techniques also incorporate an array of leg sweeps, throws, and trapping/locking.

The origins of Tae Kwon Do are quite unclear and accounts of its development are quite conflicting. It's certain though that the ancient Korean martial arts of Subak and Taekyon were main influences. The name for Tae Kwon Do was officially adopted in April 11, 1955 and the Korean Tae Kwon Do Association was formed a few years after in 1961.

Learning to Think: Part Three - Continuing Mindfulness Throughout the Day

Fall is well underway here in Michigan, and the beautiful fall colors can be seen for miles around. It is such a wonderful sight to see children, young and old, out and about enjoying the wonderful scenery. My young son has become increasingly aware of the seasons, and it has been amazing for me to watch him make discoveries about the changes in his world. During this time of change, I continue to think about the mindfulness that is so important for every child. Watching my son think, learn, and process information related to the changing seasons has brought me more joy than I could have ever imagined.

Here are a few more strategies that I would like to share with you that will help increase the mindfulness of your students.

• Play “I Spy” with your students. Students at any age love to play games. The “I Spy” game can be adapted for any age of students. This game consists of one person visually locating an item within a room, and then providing clues to his or her peers about the item. You could spy a small plant growing on the teacher’s desk, for example, and then provide clues like “this is green” and “it continues to grow”. The audience then guesses what the person is spying, and whoever guesses correctly gets to be the “spy” next. This game provides students with opportunities to practice basic problem solving skills and information processing.

• Rearrange the daily schedule. As teachers, we often get into a rut of doing the same thing at the same time each day. Consistent schedules are often positive elements of an effective classroom; however, the same thing day in and day out can become monotonous, static, and even boring for the students and the teachers. Providing simple variations to your classroom schedule can be an effective tool for increasing the flexibility and mindfulness of your students. For example, if you consistently have a snack before doing math, try having the snack during or after your math lesson. By providing a schedule that is fairly consistent yet flexible, you will be providing your students with opportunities to increase their abilities as well.

• Vary the way you teach lessons. Often as teachers, we have a favorite spot of two from which we prefer to teach. These may be in front of the class, by the white board or projector, or walking amongst our students. There are, however, many different places within the classroom where you can teach from. For example, you could teach while sitting at a student’s desk, sitting in the back of the room, or sitting on the floor together as a group. By providing variations to the way you deliver instruction, you can provide students with variations and opportunities to do think independently as well as get a glimpse of what may be happening in other portions of your classroom.

By providing your students, and yourself, with some simple variations and opportunities to be mindful individuals, you will be setting the stage for a community of lifelong thinkers. I look forward to sharing more thoughts with you regarding learning and thinking in the months to come!
